The Mercedes-Benz Atego is the lightest truck series from Mercedes-Benz, if you want even lighter within the Daimler group, you should go for a Fuso Canter. The first generation was introduced in 1998, as a successor to the Ecoliner. A year later it was promptly named Truck of the Year. Major updates of the model followed in 2004 (MP2), 2010 (MP3) and 2014 (MP4).

The Atego is a real world truck, apart from in Wörth (Germany) it is also built in Turkey, Brazil, Argentina and Algeria. The truck is available with a GVW of 6.5 to 16 tonnes and engines up to 299 hp.
